Our journey with farm animals started back in 2014 with our first little pregnant goat, Tina. Over the last five years our farm started to expand as we began to take in rescue animals or animals in need of a forever home off of our local Facebook pages. We currently provide sanctuary for 76 animals (41 of which are poultry) and more than half have made it to Silo Barn Farm through rescue or rehoming situations. Along with the expansion of our farm, our knowledge of providing care for the animals on our farm has also expanded. We don't claim to know everything and are the first to admit that we are not perfect and have made a lot of mistakes along the way. Through our imperfection, we hope to continue to learn, and provide a better home for the animals in our care, as well as provide some education about animals along the way.
Since the beginning of 2019 we have felt a tug at our hearts to do more for the animals that we dedicate so much of our lives to which lead us to the decision to begin our journey as a farm animal sanctuary. We have made the decision to start out our mission now, contributing 5% of every sale from our business Home Sweet Gnome as one avenue of self-funding. We will also be offering Silo Barn Farm merchandise as a second way to provide funding for our sanctuary very soon!
We intend to file for an official non-profit status by the end of the year. This will allow us to make sure there is an adequate need in our community for a farm animal sanctuary before completing the rigorous requirements to file for official status. Until we obtain our non-profit status, donations may not be considered a tax deduction. That being said, the more love and support we receive the more animals we can rescue and provide care for. You can donate directly to the sanctuary though PayPal HERE.
